Legal Question (interpret the meaning and application of a law) [1903] Limits of Defamation |
I request the advice of the Court, specifically asking if my dispatch has broken any of our laws on defamation.
I have recently posted a dispatch "LC Don Volaworandleone: An offer you can't refuse." where I present Don Volaworandleone (as a corrupted mafia boss version of myself) and New Haudenosaunee Confederacy in a conversation that satirically mirrors a famous scene from the Godfather between Bonasera & Don Vito Corleone. When formatting the dispatch I wanted one party in white background speech bubbles to visually clarify the alternating dialogue. The quote tag worked well for this purpose. In order to make use of the quote tag format, I have to link to RMB posts. At first I linked all of them to my own initial campaign post. However, since I'm running on a fun campaign with satirical corruption-based platform, I decided to test the limits of our free speech and link those lines to various actual RMB posts made by New Haudenosaunee Confederacy over the past year of so. I believe the dispatch is clearly making use of satire, but in the interests of clarity I ask the court to review the dispatch and advise if I have crossed the line as it relates to our laws. Might I ask, are you sure you want the Court to formally consider whether you have committed a crime, including the weeks that such a case would take, when nobody has accused you of such?

I was pushing the envelope a bit and wanted to make sure I hadn't crossed the line.

I ask again, do you still want the Court to consider this?
