ABOUT THE KODIAK REPUBLIC
The Kodiak Republic, or TKR; officially the Serene Republic of Kodiak, is a liberal democracy located in the west of the Maxtopian Penninsula. Kodiak is just under 1,000,000 km² and has a population of about 80 million. Its capital is  centrally located in Rykkburgh and its largest city is Duckburg. There is no official language but all government business is done in English.

Previously a monarchy under the dynasty Bromannikha, a popular revolution preceded the proclamation of the Republic of Kodiak in a large break-away portion of the country in 2008. The remaining lands of the Bromannikhan Kingdom (often referred to as the Last Kingdom) slowly and peacefully integrated into the Kodiak Republic over subsequent months, completing the process by 2010.

The Kodiak Republic is a mock-government community which utilises a custom-made mod of the acclaimed political simulator Democracy 4. Founded over 14 years ago and at one time the most active community in NS, The Kodiak Republic rehabilitated its community in early 2021 and is now again a top-20 region in NationStates. We stand by our values of Democracy, Integrity, Community, and Equality, upon which all our interactions lie.

The Kodiak Community hosts a private modded Valheim server (open to citizens of all URA regions) as well as a Supremacy 1914 Alliance, and various other incidental Multiplayer Gaming events. Our mock-government is unique within NationStates; we legislate and manage Kodiak as a nation in regards to taxes, education, welfare, and a myriad of simulated national crises, managed by the RP GM and via the political simulator Democracy 4.

Our current government was elected with a plurality on 2 June 2022 to a twelve week term and is headed by Patrick Barber of the socialist Kodiak Workers' Party in coalition with the conservative National Unity Party led by Oskar Luchens. The election was won 15:14:3 in a three way race between the KWP:NUP and the right-libertarian CACSPO led by Yungley Shaon.

KODIAKER NEWS - JUNE 2022
The 642 General Election was held on 30 May 2022. Two candidates ran for President in this election: Incumbent President Tobias Virstürm (PPK) and Rudra Jaiswal (Independent). Mr. Jaiswal was disqualified after a police investigation discovered numerous payments from international rightist organisations as well as links to an anti-semitic hate group.
Three candidates declared for the position of Chancellor. Oskar Luchens of the National Unity Party (NUP), Patrick Barber of the Kodiak Workers' Party (KWP), and Yungley Shaon of the Chest & Co Sponsored Political Office (CACSPO). Chief Justice Martang Eðeltreow lodged his intention to remain in office early in the campaign season.

Notable in this election, sitting Chancellor Wesley Karlsson dissolved his Democratic Labor Party of Kodiak (DLPK) and declined to run for a second term. A debate was held including all three Chancellor Candidates, and may be heard again here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPUy5Qh47WM
