Wow! Day 20! Who can believe it? Last year this thing ran out of steam by day 18, so it's graet that we're still managing to find the time to open up more doors on the Advent Calendar. But what's behind the door today?
Why, it's a festive spam game: The One-Line Christmas story!
The idea is much the same as in the three-word stories you'll be familiar with from Spam forums everywhere (including here). The difference is that you aren't limited to three words, but to 'a line', which is loosely defined as a thought or phrase no longer than (but possibly shorter than) one sentence.
This gives us the opportunity to have a little more creative input into the direction of the story, but still prevents us from taking complete control and allows a fair amount of randomness from each new entry.
So, let me start it off with the following 'line':
Once upon a time, at the North Pole...
