i ene: A Roleplay between Proctethia and Procus Rega.
#31

Normally, those who passed by dressed in a mix and match of royal guard wear, knight armour, or more modern soldier costumes from museums; but this person was dressed simply in a dark black cloak that covered there whole body. As per usual, King Karen Iannis IV shouted at them, “I demand to see your leader!”, but what changed today was that they did not just ignore Iannis and keep on walking - instead they turned around and faced Iannis.

Iannis repeated again, “I demand to see your leader!”

The cloaked figure responded smugly, “Oh, silly Iannis,” they said, as Iannis eyes widened in shock as he recognised the voice, “I’m right here.”

The cloaked figure then removed their hood, revealing a face Iannis had not seen in months. No… it can’t be… Iannis thought to himself as he realised the worst possible outcome that could possibly happen, happened.

(Procus conversations translated to English)

To honour those who were unrightfully killed by Procus Rega - whether they lived in Proktethia or Procus Rega, or even somewhere else - the nation of Procus Rega had gathered together on this day to honour those losses, and would do so on September 9th every year for the rest of time.

They gathered outside the beautiful palace of the High Prince. Unlike other places on the island, very little of this building had changed, it had only bee made more secure and stable - it still represented the fascinating culture as well as the marvellous and unique building style Procus Rega had developed over the centuries.

The High Prince read out a list of names. They were those of the people who had been killed. The people of Procus Rega got down on their knees and looked up into the sky. They then took a flower out of their clothing and held it up, high in the air. Once the names had all been listed, the High Prince did the same too. They all then closed their eyes and whispered the Procus Zywo. The Procus Zywo is a speech to symbolise that death is not the end.

The people proceeded to open their eyes and then blew the petals off the flower, to symbolise that those who died would now be free.

_ _ _

The next day, the High Prince and the council were having a meeting. At this point, they were discussing what to do about current international affairs - they checked what was going on in the world, and the current headlines. But one major headline stood out. They all gasped in shock and the High Prince shouted “NO!”

Centuries ago, Tethia and Artregon were bitter rivals among the many Proktethian city states, but ultimately Artregon won, causing the Tethian army to flee. After a strike of heroism in the Northern Lands, they came marching back down, chanting “Pro te Thia!” (meaning “For the God”), which would eventually evolve into the name of the nation.

However, when they returned they found the city of Tethia/Thia had been burned to the ground - presumably by a coalition of Artregon, Chisa, Kokoni, Enatesserao and various other city states. But when Proktethia conquered these lands, they did not burn down the city of Artregon, it instead became the capital.

But, alas, Artregon did ultimately meet the same fate. No matter the hard work of the fire and hospital services, combined with the works of charities (such as MaZC), all that remained of Artregon was ashes and rubble.

One building, that - remarkably - stayed mostly undamaged, was the Hall of Artregon: the same place where Proktethia, and its enemies in the Great War had met to discuss the fate of Proktethia; the same place where the Kingdom of Proktethia had reluctantly signed the independence of those same nations; the same place Proktethia came out victorious in its civil war from 1821 to 1825; the same place Proktethia officially declared itself the Kingdom of Proktethia and its control over the nations who burnt the city of Tethia and kicked the Tethians up North - Artregon, Kokoni, Akti, Chisa and Enatessarao.

Upon the remains of this building stood a mysterious figure with a row of people who vaguely resembled royal guards stood behind them. They had set up a camera, that was recording this live to the world.

“Good Evening, people of Proktethia,” smoothly bellowed the unknown person, “these past few months, I expect you have grown weary of this long lasting civil war.”

”You… we had you arrested…” Iannis gasped for breath.

“Clearly democracy has failed. Remember the glory days of Proktethia, long before democracy was a common concept? Now look where we have gotten with democracy. “

“We must stop this at once!” the High Prince shrieked, “we cannot accept this!”

“Today marks a new day. A new era. Of prosperity. While our capital, may have been burned to the ground, and by who… I do not know - what I do know is that I will lead Proktethia into a new golden age!”

”Oh, dear thia,” sighed Zenovia to herself, “I do hope this isn’t because of me.”

“So the Kingdom of Proktethia, is reborn. But not under Iannis, that stupid failure who didn’t even have any power. No, under me.”

”Did you miss me,” the cloaked figure snickered to Iannis, “brother?”

“So, welcome me,” the mysterious figure said, removing their hood, “as your new King - King Charalambos.”

The crowd was hesitant and distrusting of their new ruler at first, knowing Charalambos’s past ways. That was, until, he brought out what he had to show.

Marietta had removed her father from her life since he was a terrible person, but she couldn’t help but feel sad when she what happened next.

“Watch as your former King, the most unpopular person, and biggest fool in this nation’s history, King Iannis IV faces an end I’m sure you can all agree on!” cheered King Charalambos.

On the one side, some ragtag guards brought on an angry Iannis, from the other, a guillotine. And I think you know what happens next.

Death is usually a sad moment, but the crowd of people, the dead of Iannis caused them to cheer and celebrate, and accept their new tyrant as the rightful ruler of Proktethia.

The cameras were recording live. The positioning was a bit off, as the High Prince’s forehead was not visible - but Procus Rega was still getting used to this technology, plus this statement was of urgency.

The High Prince had a piece of paper infront of him so he knew what to say, as he could not speak Austral. “The recent occurrences in the nation of Proktethia are firmly condemned by all in Procus Rega. On September 9th, we honoured those who we unrightfully killed during our war and violence with Proktethia earlier this year. However, many of those lives could have been spared were it not for the actions of Charalambos during that time. While Iannis started the tensions between our nations due to his immaturity and foolishness, Charalambos fuelled the fire both by attempting to take down both the Proktethian government, and our own.”

“Charalambos has a dirty record - he allegedly killed Iannis III, and officially killed Iannis IV; he killed many others in both Proktethia and Procus Rega, he previously attempted to take control of Proktethia while it was a democracy, and now again - when it was in anarchy. Do not forget that he has sabotaged a civilian plane, or that he killed numerous Proktethian politicians, even attempted to kill former Prime Minister - Tatiana Zenovia.”

“In his speech, he mentioned he did not know who burnt down Artregon, but this is yet another lie. He has burnt and destroyed various buildings in Artregon City previously - including Anthroupimiloun Palace, the former location of Proktethian parliament (before it was destroyed).”

“He states that democracy has failed Proktethia, but that was because of him and Iannis, not because of democracy. I urge everyone in Pacifica - including the people of Proktethia - not to listen to Charalambos. He is trying to manipulate the people of Proktethia into trusting him as the new ruler by his deception and lies - just like he once deceived me. Procus Rega shall do everything in its path to remove this tyrant from power, even though there is little we can do. Due to its decades of isolation, Proktethia is not affected much by economic sanctions or blockades, but the nation of Procus Rega shall still try to stop Charalambos, as he has done terrible things to both our nation and his,” the High Prince finished. While he did not know if Erasmos had even translated what he had said correctly, the High Prince was still passionate about what he had just said - even if to him it was just a bunch of sounds. The High Prince walked off and the cameras stopped recording. Procus Rega had made its statement in regards to the events of Procus Rega.
